Adrian Fenty

Adrian Fenty, American lawyer and politician, 6th Mayor of the District of Columbia
Adrian Malik Fenty (born December 6, 1970) is an American politician who served as the sixth mayor of the District of Columbia. He served one term, from 2007 to 2011, losing his bid for reelection at the primary level to Democrat Vincent C. Gray. Though Fenty won the Republican mayoral primary as a write-in candidate, he declined the Republican nomination and said he would likely not seek elected office again. Gray went on to win the general election for Mayor in the largely Democratic District.

Since leaving office, Fenty has become a special advisor to the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, and as a member of the business development team at the law firm Perkins Coie. Fenty has also held advisory and business development roles with Rosetta Stone, Everfi and CapGemini. In addition, he has served on the boards of directors at two nonprofits: Genesys Works-Bay Area and Fight for Children. He has also embarked on a career as a paid speaker, part-time college professor, and adviser for the state and local government with an information technology consulting firm. Previously, Fenty was a D.C. Council member for six years. A Washington, D.C. native, Fenty is a graduate of Oberlin College and Howard University Law School.
