King Alexander of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes suspends his country's constitution (the January 6th Dictatorship).

The 6 January Dictatorship (Serbian Cyrillic: , romanized: estojanuarska diktatura; Croatian: estosijeanjska diktatura; Slovene: estojanuarska diktatura) was a royal dictatorship established in the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (Kingdom of Yugoslavia after 1929) by King Alexander I (r. 192134) with the ultimate goal to create a Yugoslav ideology and a single Yugoslav nation. It lasted from 6 January 1929, when the king prorogued parliament and assumed control of the state, and ended with the 1931 Yugoslav Constitution.

Alexander I (Serbian Cyrillic: Александар I Карађорђевић, romanized: Aleksandar I Karađorđević, pronounced [aleksǎːndar př̩ʋiː karad͡ʑǒːrd͡ʑeʋit͡ɕ]) (16 December 1888 [O.S. 4 December] – 9 October 1934), also known as Alexander the Unifier, was the prince regent of the Kingdom of Serbia from 1914 and later the king of Yugoslavia from 1921 to 1934 (prior to 1929 the state was known as the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes). He was assassinated by the Bulgarian Vlado Chernozemski of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization, during a 1934 state visit to France.
